In the Heights is a musical with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes. The story is set over the course of three days, involving characters in the largely Hispanic-American neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York City.  Language is inappropriate for children 12 years of age and younger.

• Non-refundable tickets are on sale NOW for $30 each; they can be picked up April 23-26 in the gym lobby.
• Tickets can also be purchased:
  • April 16 & 17, Gym Lobby, A and B lunch
  • April 23 & 24, Gym Lobby, A and B lunch
  • April 23 – 26, Gym Lobby After School

• Only students who are currently either a Junior or a Senior may purchase a ticket
• All ADMHS students need to fill out a Prom Application.  A parent/guardian signature is required.
• Any GUESTS who do not attend Athens Drive must fill out a Guest Application. Completed Guest Applications must be returned to ADMHS no later than Wednesday, April 18.
• All Fees/Fines must be cleared before ticket(s) can be purchased. This includes library, band, school and athletic fees/fines.

The widely anticipated Senior Breakfast is just one week away!  Your student’s invitation was sent home last week (see below).

Annual Senior Class Breakfast

Thursday, January 25nd at 7:50 AM

The Senior Breakfast will include a variety of food including chicken biscuits from Bojangles and Chick-Fil-A, biscuits from Hardees, Yogurt Parfaits from McDonalds, Bagels from Bruegger’s, fruit and much more!

During the breakfast, raffle prizes will be awarded! There will also be a momento for each Senior Classman.

We couldn’t host this event without the help of local businesses and donations from parents/guardians.

If you haven’t already, please consider making a donation.

Presented by renowned Harvard-educated, Julliard-trained educator, speaker, producer, musician, and writer Peter Sklar, who has coached Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon, Tessa Netting, Ricki Lake, Mischa Barton, Hunter Parish, Laura Osnes, Lori Loughlin, Holly Marie Combs, and countless others. An eye-opening event for kids, teens, parents, teachers, and young adults.

Please note that this lecture is designed to be especially entertaining and relevant to parents. Everyone under the age of 18 must have at least one of their own, actual parents present for the entire lecture.

Young adults (age 18 or older) will benefit profoundly from the talk and are welcome and encouraged to attend with or without a parent.

The thrust of Peter Sklar’s talk is how the process of becoming successful applies universally, whether in the classroom, interviewing for college, or the overall job market and beyond. These include:

• Developing emotional self-awareness and self-discipline, onstage and off
• Understanding that what you have for breakfast is just as important as your talent and passion
• Having a sober perspective on romantic relationships
• Working hard, but working smart at something you love

We suggest that all participants- especially teens and children- have a full glass of water just before the lecture.

Hydration improves listening skills… you’ll notice a big difference!

JOIN Ekklesia Raleigh on Friday, August 26 at 6pm for their 5th Annual Back-2-School Block Party! The event includes free food, sodas, popcorn, games, school supplies (while supplies last), giant inflatables and an Outdoor Movie! Movie title hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Weather permitting, the plan is for everything to take place on the Athens Drive High School Marching Band field. If the weather is bad, we’ll move everything indoors into the High School lobby and we’ll use the auditorium for the movie.
