2018-2019 PTSA Open Position Descriptions & Responsibilities
PTSA BOARD MEMBERS:
President:
- Schedule, attend, and preside over all PTSA meetings for the school year
- Create each PTSA meeting Agenda and bring copies to each meeting (Google Docs)
- Represent and speak on behalf of the PTSA at school events such as Open House or Meet The Teacher
- Meet monthly/as needed with school principal to discuss current and upcoming school events
- Coordinate with other Board Members and Committee Chairs about current and upcoming events/needs/etc.
- Coordinate with VP of Communications about information to include in weekly Athens Alert
Vice President in charge of Membership:
- Attend and assist signing up new members during school events such as Open House and Meet The Teacher
- Enter all new PTSA memberships into database (data entry)
- Update and maintain membership list throughout the school year (Google Docs)
- Coordinate with Treasurer for payment of our State & National PTSA membership dues
- Coordinate with VP of Communications to keep member mailing list up to date (Google Docs)
Vice President in charge of Communications:
- Coordinate with VP of Membership to keep member mailing list up to date (Google Docs)
- Coordinate with PTSA President, Board, and Committee Chairs about information to include in weekly Athens Alert
- Send out Athens Alert weekly/as needed to mailing list (Mail Chimp)
- Coordinate with Website Coordinator about current and upcoming events
2018-2019 PTSA Open Position Descriptions & Responsibilities
COMMITTEES:
Nominating Committee:
- Network with others to help find qualified candidates to serve on the PTSA in vacant Board or Committee positions
- Help recruit and sign up new PTSA members during school events such as Open House and Meet The Teacher
Audit Committee:
- Perform a monthly/quarterly review of the PTSA’s bank statements and supporting documents
- Perform the Annual Financial Review and file the Year End Report with the NCPTA (Basic accounting knowledge would be helpful for this committee)
Fundraising Committee:
- Come up with and present fundraising ideas to the PTSA Board. (Fundraisers include on-campus events, such as Open House and Meet The Teacher, as well as off-campus events, such as Rewards Nights at local restaurants)
- Coordinate with other school clubs & organizations (band, sports, etc.) about schedule to prevent “competing” fundraising events
PTSA Website/Social Media Chair:
- Update PTSA website as needed (website skills needed)
- Update PTSA Facebook page
- Coordinate with VP of Communications about current and upcoming events
Student Recognition Chair
- Support Administration in efforts to recognize students
- Purchase Gift Cards for On-Time Recognition (parent supported)
- Partner with local businesses to get gift cards/coupons for Academic Recognition. These will be sent with Principal letter for A/AB Honor Roll Students.
