*NEW* Athens Achievers Student Recognition Program

March 25, 2019 by Lysa Fulbright

The PTSA has begun a new Student Recognition program called Athens Achievers.

What is an “Athens Achiever”? A student who strives to improve and keep up their grades, while also making a positive contribution to the classroom learning environment. Examples could include a student who:

  • Shows academic advancement by improving grades
  • Continues academic achievement by keeping grades up
  • Exemplifies the 4 C’s in class (Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Creativity)
  • Contributes regularly to classroom discussions
  • Exhibits positive, respectful behavior to others at all times

The PTSA would like to recognize these students with help from ADMHS teachers. Every month, each teacher will nominate one of their students as their Athens Achiever of the Month.  Consideration would include students at ALL academic levels. These names will be proudly posted on the PTSA bulletin board for the following month. All nominees will also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a gift card.

Congratulations to all of the students who were chosen as February’s Athens Achievers:

HOW PARENTS CAN HELP SUPPORT THIS PROGRAM:

  • ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT to ask questions during class discussions, and to get help during Advantage Time if they need it. Have them join – or start – a study group. Help them to be engaged in their education
  • BE INVOLVED in your child’s education. Familiarize yourself with your child’s class websites. Show interest in their assignments and what they are studying in class. Check Powerschool weekly and discuss any concerns with your student or their teachers.
  • DONATE GIFT CARDS TO THIS PROGRAM! Help reward the students by donating $10 gift cards for our monthly drawings. Suggested gift cards would be from nearby restaurants such as: Bojangles, Chik-Fil-A, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Moe’s, Cook Out, Hardees, etc. Other suggestions would be gas cards (such as from Circle K on Avent Ferry Rd.), movie theater cards (such as Regal theaters in Crossroads), or other nearby shops such as Food Lion or Walgreens. If you prefer, you can write a check payable to “ADMHS PTSA” and note “Athens Achievers” on the memo line, and we will use your donation to purchase gift cards for this program.
