Mr. Crockett, ADHS principal, briefly welcomed the parents to the school and turned the microphone over to Paulette Carrieri, PTSA president, who called the meeting to order at 6:28PM.
Mrs. Carrieri welcomed the parents to one of the three required PTSA general meetings and introduced Maryann Hiscock, PTSA Treasurer. A Powerpoint slide show accompanied the presentation.
Mrs. Hiscock reviewed the PTSA budget for the 2013-14 school year which had been approved at the previous general meeting. She noted a few budget items such as the PTSA scholarships.
Mrs. Carrieri introduced Lucy Shockley, chair of the PTSA Nominating Committee and turned the floor over to her.
Mrs. Shockley presented the slate of officers and asked for nominations from the floor. None were made. Mrs. Shockley closed the nominations and made a motion to accept the slate of officers. The motion was seconded and the slate of officers was accepted. There was a vote with all in favor of accepting the slate of officers, and none opposed.
Mrs. Carrieri introduced three new programs the PTSA plans to do during the 2013-2014 school year. The programs are: a tutorial center staffed by tutors from the Wade Edwards Learning Lab; A Clothing Closet to serve students who find themselves in crisis situations, and the grounds committee. Mrs. Carrieri noted that these programs had not been formally adopted by the general membership during the May 2013 meeting and therefore, were not funded as a part of the budget adopted in May, 2013. There were no questions regarding these programs.
Mrs. Carrieri asked for a motion to adopt the three programs. A motion was made and it was seconded. The motion to adopt the three programs was put to a vote with all in favor, none opposed.
The Academic Integrity Committee made a presentation to the parents about the Academic Integrity Program and encouraged them to read and familiarize themselves with it.
Mrs. Carrieri adjourned the meeting at 6:39PM.
