Audit Committee:
- Perform a monthly/quarterly review of the PTSA’s bank statements and supporting documents
- Perform the Annual Financial Review and file the Year End Report with the NCPTA (Basic accounting knowledge would be helpful for this committee)
Backpack Buddies Program:
- The Athens Drive Backpack Buddies Program serves students in our school who do not have access to sufficient food outside of school. This program provides a bag of nutritious food on Fridays to assure students have meals over the weekend.
- The PTSA has committed to sponsoring one week a month to provide food and pack up bags for our students in need. Volunteers will be needed to send in donations of food, organize the food pantry, and pack the backpacks on Thursdays
Classroom Supply Grant Committee:
- Each fall, the Athens Drive PTSA awards Classroom Supply Grants for needed resources or supplies that will enrich the educational opportunities for students. Grants are available for up to $100 and will be awarded sometime in October.
- Assist PTSA Board in reviewing and approving teacher submissions for grants
Gardens & Grounds Committee:
- Assist during Fall/Spring Beautification Days
- Coordinate with other on-campus service group events as needed
Hospitality Committee Chair:
- Coordinate with Principal to set up dates for Hospitality events
Hospitality Committee:
- Donate food items to school Hospitality events
- Volunteer during Hospitality events
Liaisons:
- A parent who is involved in one of the following: Band, Chorus, Health Science Academy, Jag Club, STEM Academy, or Theater
- Report during the PTSA meeting about that organization’s upcoming events or fundraisers
- Facilitate communication between the PTSA and that organization
Membership Committee:
- Enter new PTSA memberships into database (data entry)
- Update and maintain membership list throughout the school year (Google Docs)
- Coordinate with Treasurer for payment of our State & National PTSA membership dues
- Attend and assist signing up new members during school events such as Open House and Meet The Teacher
Nominating Committee:
- Network with others to help find qualified candidates to serve on the PTSA in vacant Board or Committee positions
- Help recruit and sign up new PTSA members during school events such as Open House and Meet The Teacher
Painless Fundraising Committee:
- Come up with and present fundraising ideas to the PTSA Board. (Fundraisers include on-campus events, such as Open House and Meet The Teacher, as well as off-campus events, such as Rewards Nights at local restaurants)
- Coordinate with other school clubs & organizations (band, sports, etc.) about schedule to prevent “competing” fundraising events
Reflections Program Chair(s) (This is a National PTA Arts Program):
- Advertise program around school and encourage participation
- Collect and organize student entries
- Plan recognition ceremony for participants
Senior Scholarship Chairperson(s):
- Coordinate with PTSA President and Senior Class Advisor for program dates
- Advertise program to Senior parents and encourage participation
- Arrange three judges to look over and score the submitted applications
- PTSA President/Scholarship Chair(s) will award scholarships to winners at the Senior Awards Ceremony
Student Recognition Committee:
- Athens Achievers:
- Donate gift cards
- Help with monthly drawings
- Honor Recognition Ceremonies:
- Donate items for receptions
- Help with reception set up and serving
All volunteers must also register to volunteer through the Wake County Public School portal. This can be done in the Athens Drive Library.
