The PTSA stands for Parent-Teacher-Student Association. We represent and serve the ENTIRE student body, their parents or guardians, as well as 200 teachers, yet we operate from a severely limited budget.
Vast majority of our revenue comes from donations.
Please keep them coming in.
Who did we serve last year and how? (And what we hope to do this year!)
Teachers:
• Supplied paper and general supplies
• Awarded grants in 2012-13 for…
- scientific calculators
- new technology for science classrooms
- art supplies
- Occupational Course of Study project
• Served a Back-to-school Breakfast, Holiday Luncheon, and end-of-year grab and go lunch.
• Paid for the Teacher of the Year and her family to attend the Wake County Teacher of the Year Banquet.
• Provided volunteers to assist throughout the school.
Students:
• Presented Enrichment Programs – health, nutrition, careers, and making wise life choices.
• Granted two $500.00 scholarships to two graduating seniors.
• Provided all incoming freshman with ADHS Agendas.
• Recognized all honor roll students and provided senior honor scholars with yearbook recognition.
• Partially-funded the senior breakfast and the senior end-of-year picnic.
• Provided volunteer tutors to assist students with remediation in math and reading.
This Year: ALL ADHS Students, on a first come, first served basis, will be eligible for free tutoring.
Parents
• Monitor Athens Alert, an up-to-date, informational news group regarding ADHS.
• Launched a new PTSA website with helpful information for parents and allows for most things to be completed online: membership, donations, sign-up for HT Consumer Rewards.
• Provide a volunteer to translate and record Mr. Crockett’s phone messages for Spanish speaking families.
• Presented parent programming such as “Drugs Uncovered” and “Understanding Common Core Math and Common Core English”.
This year: WCPSS Parent Academy will provide parent programs for Athens parents.

Our Grounds Beautification Date is set for October 26th, we need:
Cases of bottled water delivered to Mrs. Finkbeiner’s office in the library.
Snacks to keep workers energized.
Desperately in need of wheelbarrows, pitchforks and shovels, and MANPOWER.
Events planned for October 26th include:
1. weed and remove lirope from front gardens
2. remove dead plants/shrubs;
3. remove dead limbs/branches;
4. mulch front gardens;
5. plant 50 azaleas (assuming we win NC Beautiful Azalea Celebration Giveaway);
6. move soil/dirt to appropriate areas;
7. move gravel around modular to reduce mud buildup
8. remove broken wood path from library entrance to Admin entrance and replace with playground mulch.
