Good Afternoon, this is Steve Mares, principal of Athens Drive Magnet High School with a special weather announcement for Wednesday, January 17th. A copy of this announcement will be posted on our school website, emailed and texted to our school families, and e-mailed to the Athens Drive PTSA email group.
I hope you all have remained warm and safe throughout the snow that has fallen today! Please take note of the following information so that we can remain on the same page regarding Final Exam and school information:
- The make-up day for missing school on Wednesday, January 17th, is Thursday, March 29th
- Thursday, March 29th is now a school day for students.
- School has been cancelled for tomorrow, Thursday, January 18th. The make-up day for missing school tomorrow, Thursday, January 18th, is Monday, June 11th. Monday, June 11th is now a school day for students.
- Our Mid-Year Graduation on Thursday, January 25th is still on.
- Our Year—End Graduation on Tuesday, June 12th, at 12:00 p.m. is still on. This date and time will not change.
- Whenever we return to school, we will have First and Second Period Final Exams. Please plan appropriately.
- If we return to school on Friday, January 19th, even if we are on a 2-Hour Delay, our schedule will be as follows:
o Friday, January 19th: First and Second Period Final Exams
o Monday, January 22nd: Third and Fourth Period Final Exams
o Tuesday, January 23rd: Make-Up Final Exams.
o Wednesday, January 24th: First day of the Third Quarter and Second Semester.
- If we are out of school again on Friday, January 19th, and return to school on Monday, January 22nd, even if we are on a 2-Hour Delay, our schedule will be as follows:
o Monday, January 22nd: First and Second Period Final Exams
o Tuesday, January 23rd: Second and Third Period Final Exams
o Wednesday, January 24th: Make-Up Final Exams
o Thursday, January 25th: First Day of the Third Quarter and Second Semester.
- Final Exams still count 20% of a student’s final grade. So, please be sure that our students are studying and continuing to prepare for their Final Exams.
- Please remember that if a student does not have a Final Exam on a day, that student should not come to school. We have all of our staff members administering or proctoring exams, and we ask that only those students who have Final Exams, or need to make-up a Final
Exam, come to school on those days.
I will send out my normal Friday evening message on Friday, January 19th. I hope this information is helpful as you and your student plan for returning to school and finishing our Final Exams.
